Intermediate Thermodynamics is out today! OMG!!! I'm so excited for everyone to read this book. It’s an enemies-to-lovers romance packed with feels, LOLs, and sexual tension.
AND it stands alone if you haven’t read the first book in the “Chemistry Lessons” series (although fans of Remedial Rocket Science will be happy about some of the cameos that pop up).
I think you’re going to love Esther. She’s smart, snarky, and flawed, with a big heart hidden underneath her prickly exterior. In keeping with the theme of women who work in STEM fields, she’s an aerospace engineer—that’s right, a literal rocket scientist. She’s also a knitter and horror movie aficionado. Oh, and she’s got a cat named Sally Ride. Naturally.
And Jonathan...just wait until you meet Jonathan. Or should I say meet him again? Those who’ve read Remedial Rocket Science will recognize him as Melody’s insufferable screenwriter blind date. That’s right, that guy. I know what you’re thinking, and it’s exactly what Esther thinks about him, too...at first. But once you get to know him, I think you’re going to fall head over heels for the guy—just like Esther does.
If you haven't read the first the book in the "Chemistry Lessons" series, now's your chance. To celebrate the release of book two, Remedial Rocket Science is absolutely free in the Kindle store starting today. But don't dawdle, because on Oct. 7 it goes back to full price.
The reviews for Remedial Rocket Science have been amazing. Smart Bitches, Trashy Books gave it a B+, saying, "Although she has her moments of sadness and seriousness, Melody’s also a dorky, snarky character with a dry sense of humor (at one point, she makes a really judgey, deadpan assessment of a blind date who’s being That Guy™ that had me accidentally snorting my coffee)." Their conclusion? "If you like books like Attachments by Rainbow Rowell, you'll like this one."
And Bookgasms Book Blog had this to say: "One of my favorite things about book blogging is when I stumble upon a new (or new-to-me) author and immediately connect to their writing. That's what happened to me with Susannah Nix. I fell in love with the writing in this book even before I fell in love with the characters. It's smart and engaging."
All the books in the "Chemistry Lessons" series can be read as standalones, and they all feature smart, geeky heroines who work in STEM fields. Some of readers' favorite characters from Remedial Rocket Science will be back for cameos in Intermediate Thermodynamics, so don't miss out on this great free book deal. Get your copy now while the getting's good!

We’re almost there!!! Tomorrow’s the big day when Remedial Rocket Science goes live in the Kindle store! Wow. I don’t think I’m going to be sleeping much tonight. It’s taken me over fifteen years and four abandoned manuscripts to get here, but I can finally check “Write and publish a novel” off my life goals list.
Eight months ago, when I decided self-publishing was the way to go, I started a to-do list counting down to release day. As I researched indie publishing and worked on my marketing strategy, I added action items to each month leading up to this one. Now, there's only one thing left on my pre-launch to-do list: write this post.
There are so many people who’ve helped make this moment possible. A lot of them are mentioned in the acknowledgements of the book, but there are others—far too many to name—who’ve encouraged me over the years in small but important ways. You’ve all played a part in making this moment happen, and you have my eternal gratitude.
Thank you to everyone who’s ridden shotgun on this crazy journey with me. I couldn’t have done it without the incredible communities of friends and writers I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of over the years. I love you all! 💞🚀
It's here! The cover for the second book in the "Chemistry Lessons" series!
Intermediate Thermodynamics is an enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy that features cameos from some favorite Remedial Rocket Science characters.
Aerospace engineer Esther Abbott doesn’t believe in love, but she’s perfectly happy hating her screenwriter neighbor. Until she’s forced to make a devil’s bargain with him: if he distracts her best friend from a mouth-breather ex, Esther will be his science advisor for the sci-fi script he's writing.
Her patience is put to the test when it’s time to fulfill her end of the deal. But the more time she spends with her nemesis, the more hate turns into attraction—and attraction into something much deeper. As Esther’s carefully-constructed defenses start to crumble, will love be her undoing or her salvation?
Those who've read Remedial Rocket Science will recognize Jonathan as Melody's screenwriter blind date. They'll also recognize the aerospace company Esther works for: Sauer Hewson. In addition to being smart as hell and addicted to science fiction and horror movies, Esther is a knitter, and you'll get to meet the members of her Monday night knitting group, who'll reappear in the next book in the series.
And now let's take a look at the cover, which I'm so excited to share with you!
